I was asked to give a soldier survival session for the Hylton Castle (in Sunderland) education team on the event they had organised to commemorate the centenary of the armistice of WW1 and the role the castle played in the Great War.
I worked with groups of children covering the ‘Rule of 3s’ in terms of survival situations and we learned some knots to work with tarps to construct shelters.
Also present at the event was a WW1 airplane, re-enactment groups and a modern army field hospital display.
